Perché siamo cosi importanti – Why we are so important

Nel mondo moderno, dove le idee e i capitali si muovono ad una velocità fino a poco tempo fa inimmaginabile, il capitale umano ha assunto un’importanza strategica per l’economia e lo sviluppo di un paese. Una nazione che riesce a creare una forza lavoro istruita a preparata (vedi la Korea del Sud) riesce ad avere un vantaggio enorme sui propri concorrenti. Il problema è che, nel caso in cui la nostra nazione si trovi indietro, lo svantaggio diventa altrettanto grande. Le forze competitive sono cosi elevate nel mondo globalizzato che ogni battaglia, sia di capitali che commerciale diventa estrema e a volte difficile da governare. Avere una forza lavoro istruita significa investire quantità ingenti nell’istruzione, nella ricerca e nei giovani. Proprio per questo motivo noi giovani abbiamo un’importanza cruciale nello sviluppo del nostro paese perché siamo gli unici a poter utilizzare le nuove tecnologie e a capire le complesse dinamiche della globalizzazione. I nostri nonni non possono più, cosi come forse i nostri padri. Il problema è che in Italia, noi giovani non ci siamo accorti della nostra importanza, ci siamo fatti schiacciare da tutti e rischiamo di essere guidati da politici oramai oltre i settant’anni che non conoscono l’inglese e non utilizzano internet. Il mondo sta correndo veloce e noi corriamo con atleti con il pace maker. Secondo voi quanto andremo avanti?

In the world today, where ideas and capital goods move at a high speed, human capital has gained a strategic importance for the economy and the development of a country. A nation that managaes to build a high skilled labour force (see South Korea) can have a huge advantage on the competitors. The problem is that when our nation is behind, the gap will be big too. Indeed competitive forces are so high in the globalized world, that every trade or capital goods fight becomes extreme and sometimes it is difficult to govern. If we want to have a skilled labour force we have to invest huge amount of money in education, research and youth. For this reason the youth has a crucial role in this moment, because our grandparents and probably our relatives cannot fully understand globalization process and comprehend the role of new technologies. The problem is that in Italy, we did not realize our importance, we have been crashed by everyone and we are guided by seventy years old politicians, who do not know English and cannot use the internet. The world is running fast and we run with athletes with a pace maker. According to you, how long can we run more?
